A Royal Wedding Slumber Party

Official Wedding Program Portrait by Mario Testino
Very early tomorrow morning west coast time, the procession for the royal wedding begins. This special day will mark the first time a princess will be from a "middle-class" background, graduated from a university, and lived with her prince out of wedlock. Although Lady Diana was considered a "commoner," she still came from an aristocratic background.

The months leading up to the wedding have been filled with rumors about who's designing Kate's wedding dress to gimmicks for royal wedding paraphernalia including $20 imitations of Kate's engagement ring. I'm planning to stay up and watch the wedding with the hubby, but since it might be hard to stay up until 2 a.m. here are a few ideas to make the night a jolly good ol' time!

Essentials for A Royal Wedding Slumber Party:

* Some bubbly (that's British for champagne)

* A Royal Wedding Game. Whoever correctly answers the majority of these questions wins:
Who'll design Kate's dress?
Who'll design the bridemaid dresses?
Will Kate wear an updo, loose curls, or her normal long straight hair?
Will Kate wear the Queens tiara?
What will Victoria Beckham wear to the wedding?
How many visible details will go wrong?
At exactly what time will they say "I do?"

* Dames should wear a British designer dress (either Burberry or Kate's beloved Issa), a tiara (a fake, cheesy one will suffice) or a Kate signature hat, and your finest jewels.  No pj's allowed!  You mustn't look rubbish for a Royal Wedding.

* Gents should wear either a lounge suit (that's British for a regular suit), morning coat, or a royal guards uniform

* A few British flags and red, white, and blue themed plates and cups

* Early grey tea and crumpets (since it will already be morning)

Kate Spade Sprouts Something Green for Spring

Kate Spade recently announced a new addition to their brightly colored fashion clothes and accessories. A bright green bicycle! It's specially designed with clips on the handles to attach a basket for your little dog to ride alone while you cruise around NYC with absolutely no purpose expect to pick up cupcakes (as the video demonstrates below). Around the same time last year, Gucci introduced a Cruiser Bicycle with their logo, signature stripes, and a Gucci satchel attached. However, the Kate Spade bike is a tad more affordable retailing at $1100 instead of $6365. Plus, I would rather ride around in a fun green-colored bike than one that I would be too afraid to leave locked up at a bike rack. The bike is available at Kate Spade stores or online at Adeline.com.

Dear Mr. Louboutin, You Don't Own the Color Red!

First, Christian Louboutin sues YSL for copyright infringement of his trademarked red soles, now they are suing the São Paulo-based brand Carmen Steffens of Brazil for the same thing. Really ?!?! It seems to me that someone is feeling a little territorial and insecure.  These "knock-offs" (although I'm not sure you can say that YSL is a knock-off) don't even remotely look like Louboutins, even with the red soles.  Plus, why would you want to create an enemy out of a fellow luxury brand?  Nothing good can come from such petty actions.

It allows you to view, select and purchase an entire collection or to filter your search according to color, material and heel height. Yummy Shoes

Alice + Olivia debuted their exclusive shoe collection on Shopbop.com today, but the best part was the short film they release along with it.  The film is a playful fantasy world of my most favorite things, CAKE and SHOES!  If this promotional gimmick doesn't get you to buy these delicious shoes, then nothing will.

Splendid Store Opening Soon at The Grove

While meandering through The Grove this Sunday, I noticed a sign for a new Splendid store in between La Piazza Ristorante Italiano and the Apple store.  I think it was a Quiksilver surf shop before.  It's a pretty hidden spot so I'm not surprised businesses don't do well there, but we'll see how Splendid does.  This will definitely create some competition for Michael Stars, another LA-based comfy t-shirt company, which is located around the corner and across from Barney's Co-Op.  According to The Grove's website, the store opens this Summer.

Fun fashion fact: Ines de la Fressange was the first model to sign an exclusive contract with a haute couture fashion house.

It was recently announced that de la Fressange, who is 53, will be the new brand ambassador for Roger Vivier and the new face of L'Oreal Paris.  Looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of Ines de la Fressange.
